Lily Squibb
Lily Squibb (beanzz) is a contemporary artist working primarily in oils and acrylics on canvas with an additional interest in illustration. Squibb is based in Toronto, Ontario where she is enrolled in Humber Polytechnic's Visual and Digital Arts diploma program. She was featured in the In Situ Festival: The Lost Edition and has commissioned illustration works in homes across the GTA. She is currently experimenting with natural inks and is exhibiting her work in the upcoming Humber Graduate Exhibition: Decagram.
About Me!
The work that I produce is my journey to find joy in the mundane. The ordinary things that I struggle to see as unique in life. I am constantly improving my techniques and developing my style. With every project I am working with things that inspire me and following the techniques of artists whose work I find intriguing.Many of my pieces are created with acrylic and oil paints on canvas. I take things as they come and am quick on my feet to make a decision for how I want to proceed with my work. When I create a piece I tend to focus on its composition and subject matter to highlight its purpose.In my current work, I am exploring new mediums using homemade natural inks made from fruits and flowers. I am finding that with this medium I am less of a perfectionist, since it is a difficult medium to control in terms of its final hue. I also find that by being more involved in the creation process of my mediums, I am more proud of the work created. Through this medium I have found inspiration for many current and future pieces and am discovering new techniques to use with every creation.
